Locating a Dana 60 front

It is unlikely you'll find one in any CA scrap yard. Everyone knows there's a market for them. Supposedly the best deals are found by buying a whole truck for just the axle and then parting it out.

"For Sale. DRW Front D60 from a 86 Chevy 3500. 4.10, open diff. 168k on truck. TRE's and kingpins are in great shape. $800 O.B.O. in Bakersfield, CA. Willing to help with transport."

Deals are scarce in CA . I did find a few at wreckers when shopping for mine. Usually 800 for a DRW .900 for SRW. I ended up goin to central oregon. If i had to do it again i would have got a whole truck and parted it out.

Hijack on for a minute.

What's up with the dual tank truck beds? I just had a fellow brother here ask if I'm selling mine off my Crew Cab, Now this?

It's just a long bed, I can run down to Pick-n-pull and probably find a dozen of them right now!:confused:

I was thinking of picking up another one and making a trailer out of it.:doah:

thanks to cash for clunkers, several of us local guys picked up LOTS of sweet front axles trans and tcases. we got nearly everything good except for the 78-79 hp 60.

I am roofing a 14x14 roof for a lady at church. D60 sitting in the back yard is mine for the work. She says she has no idea what her ex has in the 4 buildings out back. But he was always working on something. I get first look.

No she is not worth the time.

I robbed the d60 from my crew cab... They're pricey up here... Good deals are to be had if you are always looking though...

I just cut the floor out of a decent dual tank bed to build the wheel wells on the blazer...:D
