Hey Guys, DYNATRAC is making lock-out hub conversions for frod & dog. This is important because we'll be next, if we hit them with E-mails.
The hub conversion will get you better DD mileage, but more important, it will allow installing an LSD in the front diff.
Tell them you want it!:D

I find it hard to believe that you could gain 4mpg from cutting the CV's out of the equation...

Just get a ARB and be done...

Okay, from experience with other similar vehicles...they're on crack if they think doing this will gain 4mpg!
Not to mention...is the knuckle even setup for this sort of thing?

We did this on our '03 Suzuki Grand Vitara. Had drive flanges up front on the IFS but older model Tracker and Sidekick hubs bolt right on. We gained exactly nothing in mpg. If there was any gain it might have been so small the bigger MT's swallowed the gain.

You've already got the thermal/electric diff actuator in there so only the front axleshafts and CV's are spinning when you're driving. The driveshaft SHOULD be still or only slightly spinning due to parasitic drag while moving.

It's all a crappy setup anyways, just do like supersize75k5 did and SAS the bitch!

I also doubt the 4 mpg claim. Not much drag from the half shafts/axles. Look back to the days of the fulltime transfer cases (NP203). Back then, converting from fulltime to part time with lockout hubs *might* have resulted in a 4 mpg gain, but no way for our stuff. I would much rather take the 2 grand and put it into a quality SAS.

Holy Shiite. You guys are right. I didn't realize there's a fork and clutch on the one axle.:doah:
I assumed it was all a full time drive train all the way back into the T-case.
Time to order up an LSD for the front.:D

There might not be any for the 9.25" front.

Better option would be the ARB locker.

Haha I was wondering if you had forgotten that there is a axle disconnect up front. Only thing that turns is the passengerside CV and the driverside CV/spider gear...

FYI anything that works in a 9.5" 14 bolt should work in the front on a K2500 as they share the same carrier..

Exactly, LockRight 1950.

Gotcha. Had a NoSlip in my Ranger's 8.8". Good stuff.

Follow-up; did the research, ordered PowerTrax NoSlip for both front (9.25) and the rear (10.5). A lot more work than 10bs, so I won't do the work until Holiday break. I'll be taking pics ala "how-to", and post them here and The Diesel Place.:xmas:

:cool1:

Where I live you don't want to lock the front of anything that sees road use but then you don't have 6 months of road salt like we do.

Lived in San Diego for 4 years...miss the wheeling and the climate...don't miss the fruits, nuts, and politics.
