I have a 88 K5 Blazer and recently my auto hubs went out. I have been looking for replacements but I saw on superwinches web site that an 88 with autos couldn't be converted to manual hubs, but on warn's website they have a part for my truck. I don't know which is true. Does some one know? And What would everyone recomend?

Step 1) Buy manual hubs (warn standard or premium, or superwinch) for a "1/2 ton GM pickup '73-'87"

Step 2) Following instructions, remove old auto hubs and install new manual hubs.

Step 3) Throw auto hubs in trash and do a happy dance.

don't the 88 and up models have the solenoid or whatever in the front axle (like the newer trucks)? I believe so...because I wanted to get one of those manual cable lockout kits for my 87 and was disappointed to find out they were for 88 and up only

[/ QUOTE ] In 88' gm went to ifs on the k1500 frame /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif, but he said he has a blazer /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif which was solid axle axle till 91', and I think it is called an acuator (looking for a dictionary) that locks the 4wd in that faction of ifs trucks

Kenton, Buy some warn premiums and don't look back.

Brian, Yep, only the IFS trucks have that POS vacuum actuator(The Posi-lock replaces the vacuum part and puts a cable there.) You shouldn't be disappointed, real men lock the hubs.... /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif
