Installed a lock right in my 14 bolt. Before I did my pass. side tire would always spin with low traction, after install the drivers side only spins. What did i do wrong?

Is this spinning done with the weight of the vehicle on the tire?

I ask because under a no load situation, the springs will allow the unit to freewheel one side over the other.

If under power both tires should turn as one. If this is not the case, perhaps the springs or locking dogbones?? are not in place right.

peanut gallery ^^^^

what is the scenario when this happens?
Did you remember to put the pass. side axle back in?
sorry, couldn't help myself, but I think we need the scenario or pic or something, dunno

I don`t know about a 14 bolt, but I have put a lockright in a 87 4 runner, 84 landcuiser, and a 91 v6 toyota and they all worked really good. Not that that it helps but I had good luck with them.

mashing the gas offroad or on asphalt only one tire will spin:dunno:

jack that baby up and see if its locked. mine is locked up like a spool with the truck on stands. try that first. in the instructions it says to test it you need to rotate one tire while the other is held stationary and listen for the ratchet noise from it.
mine didnt do that. its locked solid. i called them, they said that in order to make it ratchet that you need alot of force. so basically jack it up and give er a feel!

really, it's that simple people? Get rid of X and buy Y....

you shouldn't be spinning wheels on asphalt, or dirt especially

my s10 with eaton posi never one leggers, no mater the ground conditions, with wide street tires, turning WOT also

installed properly it should still work. wether its a good idea or not.

btw a mini spool is under $150:whistle:

When turning left only the left tire will want to spin/bark/chirp under "normal" driving conditions since it doesnt need as many revolutions to turn as the outer and vice versa.

Are you turning and trying to break both tires loose with lots of acceleration or just a "normal" turn??

^^ on that vice versa note, the right tire should do the same for right turns. They should chatter, one side or the other, every time you turn. The eaton I have has aggressive springs, the truck has small diameter tires, and it chatters around turns.

If your eaton is chattering all the time should get some more GM additive and put it in there. I had an eaton for 13 years that we set up so tight it didn't need springs (we put them in anyway). It didn't chatter.

Also, a locker isn't going to chatter, it is not a clutch type limited slip like an eaton. A locker may squeel the inside tire around some turns, because on a turn, either the inside tire is the only one being driven because the outer one is released, or they are both being driven because you are on the gas and it won't release.

^^ yeah yeah, I mean the tire will chatter. With the street tires it kinda just skids or chatters around a turn. :) If I'm off the gas, rolling through a turn, I hear nothing.
