I just picked up a '94 Burb K2500 - sweet deal BTW. It's got a TBI 454 with a Whipple supercharger and 4L80E.

Anyway, it has a 14BFF and I was wondering if those axles came from the factory that year with any sort of traction devices. Part of my RPO list is obscured, but if you are aware of any to look for, post 'em up.

I didn't think you could get a ff in a 'burb after about '88-'89. Otherwise, yeah, G-80 is the only code I know.

Yep, the 1992-99 K2500 Burbs with the 454 got the 14BFF.:D

So the Gov-Loc was the only factory traction device they put in 'em in 1994?

If your RPO codes are fubar, best bet is to pull the cover and have a look. Once you get it off, it'll be obvious what's in there and then you can inspect the gears and change fluid while you're poking around.

Alternately, you can run the numbers stamped into the top of the right side tube.

The Gov-Loc was the ONLY factory traction device available for the 14BFF ever......(excluding military vehicles):wink1:

I could have sworn some of them came with posi.

I have service manuals from 74 and 85, neither mention a posi, only the Gov-lock, in the GM full float axles. The Dana axle has the PowerLok unit.
