Locker for 12bolt

I have a 12bolt rear with factory limited slip.

I want to install a locker, any suggestions for a truck that is used both on and off-road?

I heard I can't install a locker in a limited slip diff? So I am screwed? This can't be right.

I can't think of any lockers for a factory Gov Loc or posi 12 bolt .

You need to either :

Get an open case , a lockright , then reset gears , or pay someone to reset gears .

Get a full case Detroit and reset gears anyway .

Do the open case and lockright yourself , and hope for the best just removing and replacing with same setup .

Or just get another 12 bolt with the same gears , open carrier, and add a Lockright .

Yup you screwed. I just found an open carrier so's I can do the same thing. Now all I have to do is come up with the money for the locker part.

OK well this sucks. I guess I am going to get a 14bolt and install disc brakes and locker.

HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT MY GEAR RATIO IS?
I think it's 4:56?

Truck in neutral. Rear end on jackstands. Or prolly the other way round. Rotate tire one revolution. Count how many times your driveshaft spins roundy round. If you can get it to the tenths you da man.

most 14bolt come with 4:10 gears dont they?

front gears are off by a wee little bit, 4:09 front and 4:10 rear is fine

do you mean you cant find any 4:10 gears to buy for your 44? ive never herd of 4:09, or are you talking about checking to see what gears you have and its only rotating to 4:09? if thats the case then you have 4:10s

on 4wheelparts and such, i can only find 4:09 for dana44 front. please give me link to 4:10 for dana44.

As far as driving, wheelin or whatever 4.10s and 4.09s are the same. You won't notice the difference. Make sure the 14bolt you get is open also, or the locker won't fit in there either.
