Locker problem

HOLD ON!!!!

A CUCV pickup has a 14FF rear that has the same detroit that everyone on here puts in their civilian 14FFs.

There is no difference between a CUCV pickup and a K30s axles.

Well my CUCV 14 bolt out of a 86 truck had a detroit that didnt look a thing like a detroit that you put into a open carrier... I have also seen another just like it, it looks nothing like what I had to put into an open "civilian" 14FF I had at a later date....

Wish I had a picture to show you...

Well either way I know the newer ones have Sof-Locker design that has damping device to reduce banging and clunking, which mine does not.

my friends blazer has a 465 and a lock rite and it will lock up when you push in the clutch. it seems to us that when you dont have power from the driveline going into the axle that it just acts like it has a spool in it. Its not bad but you can tell that that both wheels are going the same speed around turns. sometimes they will chirp.

Are you sure it is a detroit? The only detroit for a 14FF is the drop in style for the stock carrier. Look it up dude:deal: .

Yes Im sure its a Detroit. I know it can only be a drop in, I never said anything about it being a full carrier Detroit..... :deal:

What I was trying to say was compared to the Detroit No-Spin I bought a few years back and put into a open 14FF this one in the CUCV axle had something different about it, I dont remember what it was though as it was a while ago.. :wink1:

I got a m1008(k30) and it has the factory detroit locker. Since I put a manual transmission in, its been acting funny. It seems to bind up sometime when going around turns. But only when I press the clutch in, say I turn into a gas station, if I press the clutch in and just coast in to the turn, it starts to bind up, but not i dont press the clutch in. Or also it will do it when in neutral.
I have the same "trouble" or we can call it a small bind with a bang :wink1:
Had it since the stick came in the truck
I am getting used to the bang now and the axleoil is OK so I do not care anymore
If you want real binding go detroit front also and flanges 4wd on the pavement U turn W manual :eek1:

I have experience with the old 60's No-Spin in Chevies... they do bang and pop a lot with a manual trans. That's just how it is. Nothing is worng with it.

I have driven the newer Detroits in auto and stick. In a pickup (light in the rear) with the auto you don't even notice it. Most of the time it stays locked (as in a spool) because the auto is always applying some torque to the drivetrain.

A manual trans unloads the drivetrain on every shift so you get more noise because locker gets a chance to slip.
