Locker Question

What you are in possesion of is a 4.10 and down open carrier with a detroit installed. I own the exact same thing which I have yet to get installed into my housing :doah: .

The 10 bolt governor and ratchet pawl are visible as you look at the carrier!
The 14 bolt FF is a two piece design carrier, the governor mechanism and ratchet are only visible if the two halves are separated. The holes around the outside diameter of the carrier are for the cross pin, there are 3 spider gears that ride on this pin, the open differential has 4. The carrier in my 1 ton has 3 holes around the diameter of the carrier therefore it is essentially a Gov-lock
14 bolt!!!! Upon looking at the pictures again, this looks to be an open carrier
because of the 4 pin holes! I have an exploded view of this carrier if you would like to see it!!!

3 pin carrier is a Gov bomb, 4 pin carrier is open or Detroit (the Detroit installs inside the open carrier case) Open 14's you can see the side gear teeth through the carrier windows, the Detroit you can see the springs windings through the windows.

The pic's show a Detroit locker installed in a standard 4 pin open carrier case.

As for exploded views...quite a few of us here have gotten really good at producing spontaneous 'exploded views' of Gov locks.

Can we put this one to bed now?

sorry to steal the post, but I wasn't aware that there were spools available for the 14 blt. Are they much cheaper then the detroit?
