Has anyone heard of "Aussie Lockers"? I have read some really good reviews and talked to one guy that has them on his jeep and seems to love them. I would love to hear some feedback about what you think the quality is compared to other lockers out there. The cost is 239.00 is that about right? Thanks!

Dave

Here is a link to their site. http://www.offroadlockers.com/item.php/TM20c715/a010/03/303005/.html

So does anyone have any thoughts on lockers for my 85 K5? I mainly play in the mud and sand at a near by river with some hill climbing and limited rock climbing. What would be the best way to go for the least amount of money. Also should I do front and rear?

I put one in my buddies ford D44. it was a little too big for the carrier so we had tp clearance it a little bit.

It is designed a lot like a lock-right, and I have heard that they are stronger than lock-rights.

What size tires are you running and what axles?

Your 85 Blazer should have 10 bolt axles. Aussie does not make lockers for 10 bolts yet. Just D44s.
Gm quit using D44 around 1980.
If you want a cheap locker your only options are Lockrites or Powertrax.
Detroit(Tractech) made a lunch box locker called E-Z lock but I think it has been discontinued since eaton bought them out.

Yea my blazer just has the stock 10 bolt axles. I am running 33x13.5 Pitbull Rockers on 15" rims. Between the powertrex and locrite which would you go with?

Choice between powertrax and lockrite.
I like powertrax the best.
But
It depends on how you drive your truck. If it is mostly trail and some street. I would go with lockrites. They are cheaper.
If it is a DD /trail. Powertrax are a better locker for street use. They are more expensive but have way better street manners than a lockrite and work just as well.
I am running a powertrax on my front 10b and really like it. It is very smooth, without all the pops and bangs like you get when running a lockrite on the front.
I havent broke anything since I swapped the lockrite I had in the front for the Powertrax.

It is not my DD it is just a play toy but I still will use it in bad weather to get to the ranch I work at about 40 miles outside of town. So the best way for me to go would probably be lockrites in the rear and powertrax in the front? I read some other reviews on another site and they said that these lockers are not recomended for anything larger the a 31" tire and some of them that where running 33's and 35's where having the lockers break or their axle...you think there is any truth to that? I have 33's and maybe down the road....say in a year or two might do some triming and put some 35's on there so do you think I will be ok?

Any time you put a locker in a 10 bolt you should plan on breaking axleshafts and start carrying spares.

Change dif?

I am not sure I want to change out the axles but if I did what would be a good one to go with and what all would be involved? What gears? Does it effect drive line, transmission, will my 305 still have enough power..etc?? Is it really worth it over all? Just wondering because I don't have a clue. Thanks

Dave

if its just a toy what about just welding the spiders? i was in your shoes a few months back with my SFA s10, was looking into spools, lockers, etc and said the heck with it. the great thing about 10 bolts is they are so dang cheep if you bust out the spider gears you can find a whole axle for like 75 bucks on craigslist cause no one wants them

I thought about that and looked at a couple of ways of welding it. I read on one site that there is a way to weld your gears so that if it breaks you can still go and put in a lockright with no problem. I have looked at spools as well....I just have read a lot of review advising against spools and welding alot of them stated they would go out one or twice to play and end up breaking. But you do have a point about the axles being cheap I checked around here and they go between 50-100 bucks.

He wasn't suggesting that you swap out axles, just that you get some spare shafts and u-joints in case you break them.

For your use, one or two of these will work best if you want a locker or two.
