Finally got the money saved up for gears and lockers. Going with 4.88 gears. For lockers I was planning on ARB front and Detroit rear. Any reason to go with anything else? Truck is not a dedicated trail rig and never will be and sees more street than trail. I wouldn’t mind going with a different locker up front to save the money but this truck sucks with turning as it is. I’m also thinking maybe just doing a locker up front for now and a rear later since the 14 bolts are so easy to add one to. I’ve searched and I’ve read and this thread won’t be anything new, just my own thread about it. Truck is sitting on a Dana 60 front and 14 bolt full float rear out of an 83 k30 with 37’s.

Detroits are pretty cheap for the rear, lowest budget there

Front I would look for a Power Lock

Its like a pissed off angry version of a posi
I installed one as a low budget option, intending to go ARB later
That was 5 years ago

@nvrenuf and @4door99 are also using them

I really like my Power Lock, in 4wd it steers great. I haven’t wheeled it a ton but I haven’t noticed it one wheel yet.

That said, my Power Lock has been rebuilt with the steel to clutch plate count/order modified to (theoretically) make it more aggressive.

Make sure you put posi additive in it

Been really pleased with mine

No ice where I live and with no doors or top or heater, I won’t be driving it when it’s cold enough to ice haha.

Is an OX locker cheaper than ARB..? I was thinking they're like $1200. No air, no electricity, just a cable. Which if something drastic happens and the cable breaks, still leaves you with the ability to wire it in the locked position to get off the trail.

Is there a tire size limit for the Power Lock for the Dana 60?
How's it handle on road for snowy days? ...currently I have open front and Detroit rear.

Been using it on 37s
I do have an ARB in the rear

I have a power lock in the D60 front of my ‘87 V30 and also have one in a D70 front in my M37 on 44” tires.

No issues with either of them.

I have a Detroit locker in the rear of both of these trucks.

I’ve ran quite a few different diffs over the years and after going selectable I’ll never go back. my vote is ARB, E-Locker or Ox Locker.
