I will be regearing the 14sf axle in my suburban and was thinking about adding a locker or Ls.Detroit is first choice but I have heard that they are very expensive for this axle. This truck is used for trailridding and camping only so with that in mind what other options do I have? Thanks

carrier info

check the side gear to carr play if keeping sf14 thay are known for chewing up carr assy. i have seen 5-6 out of 10 like this more commen on 88-up trucks.

I had 4.56s and a detroit in my '91 3/4ton sub with 9.5" SF rear. No complaints of having the detroit in the rear. It was kinda a piece of mind, didn't worry about it shocking the axles shafts like a gov-loc does when it engages.

I did ,85 muddblazin, sorry for the confusion.I ment when it goes off road all it does is trailride and camp no rocks or serious mud.

on four wheel parts web site it doesn't show that a lock right is made for a 14 sf only thing available is a detroit or auburn.
