I started using a locking gas cap about a month ago, since I figured it was long over due with gas prices and a 40 gallon tank, but today when I went to fill up I unlocked it then turned lefty loosy and turned and turned and turned and turned. You get the idea, it just spins and goes nowhere, but then I locked it back and it's stuck in place. Any tricks to get this piece of crap off so I won't run out of gas tomorrow? I was thinking about unlocking it and running a large drill bit down thought the cap on one side. Any problems with trying that? Any better ideas? HELP!!!!

Mine does that to, If I push down on it pretty hard it will loosen up. I got tired of messing with it for 10 mins so I no longer lock it.

if it is one of those "stant" brand plastic ones all you need to do is stick a screwdriver in it and one tap of a hammer and you can twist it right off.

I got mine from autozone, biggest piece of crap ever. I wouldn't have bought mine if it passed emissions.

yep, that's what kind it is. Should I have it locked or unlocked when I stick the screwdriver in? Or does it matter?

Had one do that too and the sad part is I just grabed it and pulled the top half off with a quick tug. The bottom half simply screwd out. I HIGHLY doubt they prevent theives, being that they arent actualy very secure, and more of a visual deterant than actual security.

usually you can just pry the top of it off then unscrew the bottom, I have them on mine, and haven't locked them is probably about 4 yrs.
