OK, so yesterday I had to change the LF hub bearings and races in my Burb (10 bolt). After getting it all back together I went to make sure everything was still okiedokie. The lockout (warn premium) gets in a bind and will not fully turn to the lock position. However, if you rotate the knob about half way to the lock position, then rotate the wheel a little until it goes "click", the knob can rotate the rest of the way without a problem. Everything had previously worked fine, but I did not test it right before I replaced the bearings. What might be wrong here?

No idea, but mine did it too. I can only guess they need a rebuild, but Warn wasn't very helpful in that department. I needed lockouts ASAP and ended up with a set of Superwinch hubs from Amazon for $40.. they are working great now.

We'll see how long they last with the 35's tho.. :haha:

Did you replace the snap ring on the end of the axle stub? I was reading another thread that you need to make sure that it gets back on.

if you dont get that snap ring back on the stub shaft floats in the hub.it lets there be a gap where the splines engage inside the hub.if you cant get the snapring on then you can try to push the stub shaft from the inside of the u joint torwardthe hub and see if it moves out.that was my problem when i left out the snapring.

If I had to guess I would say you didnt get the snapring back on the end of the axle shaft. As I recall there are 2 grooves on the end of the stub, one is relatively shallow and the other is further up the shaft and deeper to where the snapring will seat down into it. You may have it in the shallow outer one. (again 2 grooves are IIRC)

There is not a snap ring installed, nor has there been since I bought the front axle. It has always worked fine that way... at least until now. It is a warn premium hub on that side. The other side is a standard warn and it leaves clearance for the snap ring, which IS installed. I've read several times that you cannot run the snap rings with the warn premiums, but I haven't actually tried. Maybe a new set of standard warns are in order, for now the hubs will just stay locked all of the time.

i had warm premiums and a snap ring was on there iirc.mine were really old though.i broke them and replaced them with the standard warns.i could never get them to engage correctly anyway.i seem to remember the snapring was easier to get on with the standard ones.they are only 100 bucks for the pair.i think they are cheaper some palces, but i got mine for that price.i havent had any engagement problems since.
