I finished installing the 1955 model in my 14Bff last week. It locks up great under power. Around corners it will unlock around corners with some slight throttle pressure. However at low speed without throttle, it will stay locked and thrash a bit between the internal coupler lash range. From the manual it appears that this is normal behavior and just requires some adjustments in driving style.

Confirm +/-?

Mine will pop and carry on at low speed around corners so violently it'll make you think you broke something every now and then. Figured it was just a characteristic of a cheap locker. Still works good after a year or so, so I guess that's just the way it is. If it ever does go out, I'll buy a detroit next time... if it ever goes out being the most important part of that sentence.

Thanks for the affirmation.
I'll just power through turns and try not to mow down any pedestrians.

Still a dual purpose rig. It still sees a decent amount of street usage.

Mine works fine around corners...If I get on it I get a chirp, but I cant hear or feal anything. Maybe Im just used to lockers. Ive had detroit's and lock-rights in a few different vehicles.

off the gas and you have compression braking which, while not as much, is also transfering torque through the axle (from the tires forcing it to spin). yep, it will want to stay locked unless you lightly give it some pedal. Enjoy the new traction :D
