I know that without hydro assist and with drive slugs you simply can't turn while in 4wd. I'm thinking of putting one in my street driven k5 with warn hubs and no assist. Can I just lock 1 side for driving on the streets when needed in the winter and be just fine? I know an arb or e locker would be better but I already have the lockrite. Has anyone driven with this setup before?

Mechanical locker in the front will suck on the street in 4WD whether you have one hub locked or both.

I've driven 90 miles home in front wheel drive after destroying the rear driveshaft, Detroit in the front. I tried both ways, I felt that both hubs locked in was better than just one but still had RIDICULOUS torque steer.

When I daily drove my Blazer with a Detroit in the front, I just left the front unlocked in the snow.

I have a lockright in my 60 and stock hubs...I don't drive it on pavement locked in though, off pavement the only problem I had was being bound up on rocks a few times, and now I got hydro assist.
