whats everyone like better? more aggressive? easiest to rebuild? more reliable? i can get a LR and a spacer for 400 or a full detroit for 500.

Detroits are stronger but require you re-setup the gears if your not changing gears. LR just drop in. If you are looking for max strength go with the Detroit. I have several friends who run LR's in there D60 with 40" tires and have had zero problems but I had one friend who fragged his LR with 42's.

Detroit is the better choice if you are not on a tight budget or are hard on parts.

i witnessed a loc-rite in action on tuesday with 42" irok's... and he was not easy on it...
i'm going loc-rite...

If it can take a 5000 rpm wheel spin and bounce allover teh friggin place, and hold up... I'm sold...

Besides it's half the price of the detroit...

I would wait for the D60 Aussie Locker to be released, it seems to have a better track record than the LR in smaller axles.

Detroit lockers rock! More expensive, more effort to install, but no disappointments or rework later.

Call summit and send the salesman to the PORC website, porc has the 2620 LR for 310$. You can get summit to match the price and shipping is only 10$.

gotlabs i can get them for 310 but i still have to get a spacer which is another 75 bucks. so thats why i was saying should i spend the extra hundred bucks on a full new detroit since it replaces the carrier.

Do you know how to set gears or know someone who does?

Well, that's half the decision right there. Basically just do you want to spend the extra coin for the Detroit and go through the installation hassle?

What do you need a spacer for? Are you regearing? If you are regearing, then go detroit.

I've had good luck so far with the LR, it's survived years with 38's (I've broken 3 D60 stubs) but my buddy did frag one with 42's in a big-block 7,000 lb. truck after several years.

If you are changing gears anyway and would need the spacer with the LR, I would just spend the extra money and get the Detroit.

Per your original question, they both work almost exactly the same and neither should ever need to be rebuilt unless you break them.

i ran detroits before and i loved them. im goin with them again for sure

Oh hell, than do a Detroit. Might as well since it's all going to be apart.
