long box to short box?

can anybody help figure out how many inchs I have to cut in my long box frame 1985 chevy to make it a short box? any information will help,I looked everywhere on google and you tube but did not find any helpful information.

A long bed truck is 8 feet long and a short bed is 6 feet long
You would have to cut in thr middle.
If it were me I would find a frame and swap them out .

You should also be able to check out Trucks, it should be similiar to the C10 they converted from long bed to short. The had to cut from the front of the bed, as well as section the frame in the middle. As wildman stated though, it would be stronger and easier to figure out how much to section if you use a short bed frame.

i looked into doing this and found a whole schematic online somewhere,cant remeber where. but i wanna say you have to channel out 12'' from behind the cab and hack 6'' off the rear behind the axle
