Will the stock O2 sensor behave on a stock TBI truck if it is moved down past the collector? Or do I need to plan another solution?

I’m using some Hedmans that are the same as my Blazer but this isn’t a Sniper job.

Any ideas?
 
It may or may not drop out on long idle situations. Surefire way is to swap from 1-wire to a heated sensor and add wiring for that.

I remember watching mine when I had it near the collector and it would drop out of closed loop at idle, but as soon as the throttle was touched would go closed loop.

The truck starts in open loop (no O2 feedback), and does heavy throttle in open loop, as GM programmed the ECM's to run open loop if necessary/when needed. If the truck starts and idles cold ok, there is likely going to be no change.

I don't know enough to say for sure the TBI is the same as TPI, but there is also programming that is dialed in to let the ECM know that the measurements the O2 is giving are a set time from the combustion event due to O2 distance from the chamber, which then affects the injection of fuel. I actually could tell the difference on mine, but being a light throttle/light engine load condition, its not likely to be a real issue regardless if the programming is a bit off there or not.
 
Thanks for the info. We're going to try stock for now and keep the heated option in our pocket. I found a headgasket leak on the driver side, so this motor might get pulled anyhow.
