I lifted my rig 2 1/2". 4 wheel parts told me I wouldn't need to change any steering components or get longer break lines.

This is at full droop:

I'm callin' Bull**** on somebody!

Does anyone have a link to some longer break lines that cost less than $120?

I already used the SEARCH button but it didn't show me what I wanted. I know I've seen it before but I just can't find it...

You can get individual brake lines made to length from Inline Tube. They seem to be very reasonable to me and have great customer service.

NAPA sells them...You just need to get a good counter guy who knows how to look them up, or get one of their catalogs and do it yourself. You can probably do it on line too.

Shame on you for listening to anybody @ 4WPW. They are renowned for their odd, let's say, business practices, and debatable technical information.

You might call ORD and see if they sell just the fronts:

For a "short" lift like that, I seem to recall some of the lift kits just relocate the junction between the hard and soft lines, to below the frame. They come with a little L-bracket which you could fab easily enough.

Otherwise, post up if you have 3/8" or 10mm banjos and someone oughta be able to get you a part # from Summit or NAPA or someplace.

yeah, I remember a relocating bracket on some of those shorter lifts. Also, like mentioned, you can get oem style lines from Autoriellykreganboys that were meant for a 1ton truck or whatever, they came longer from the factory. (I don't know the model, sorry)

And I don't think they make a lifted steering arm for 2.5 inches. Only 4-6". A dropped pitman might work, but again, maybe not for 2.5". You don't want to draglink going UP from the pitman arm.

i relocated my lines to below the frame rail.

or 2wd brake hoses will be longer best check length at the store. but this will require little securing of the hose.

but why keep rubber lines. just go braided lines. better pedel also.

I know they have the rubber lines at Napa - extended. I just had to do all of this stuff... I almost got them at napa..but ended up getting SS lines here -

Thanks for the informative responses.
I ordered some stainless steel lines for a 4" lift. They were a little expen$ive but they are an upgrade & I like having breaks.
I figured while I'm at it I "might as well" replace my old rusty Master cylinder too.

Here is who did mine, all stainless choices of colors. great customer service and super fast shipping. Was not quite $250 for my whole truck with all fittings. Middle drop in front, then out to sides. Then rear into cab, to ball valve, then cutting brakes, then 2 10' lines to rear brakes.

my rules for 10+ years of being a mechanic was this

#1 = you will have safe brakes .

#2 = you will be able to steer good .

#3 = you will be safly restrained in vehicle .

otherwise you can push/pull/drag/tow it out of the shop. but thats my rules.

x2

There was somebody on here asking a steering question, and somebody else replied with blah blah should be good enough. Answer is no these things are never good enough. Either they ARE good or they aren't.

For a cheaper alternative, you can buy some front brake hoses from a 1992 c1500, they are completely bolt on and about 5-6inches longer, 25$ a piece at autozone..

Atta boy, that's the stuff I was looking for.

...But I already ordered braided stainless steel lines for the front & rear and a new master cylinder too. Total cost $140.
Piece of mind- Priceless :waytogo:
