swapping long tube headers onto my 89 k5 the o2 sensor bung is all the way down by the collector as opposed to rite at the manifold will it mess with the resistance if i "extend" the wire or does someone make a longer lead o2 sensor? thanks in advance

Well with the 02 being farther away you will probaly need a heated 02 so that its up to temp to accuratly read the 02. Doing this you will need to supply the new 3 wire 02 power and ground and the signal wire. When you do add on to the signal wire be sure to soder and heat shrink the connection to keep moisture away. Worked really well on mine!

Supposedly the differences in part numbers for the Delco one wire O2's are just the wire length. That's one option.

Your other option is to see if you can't just "de-loom" the O2 sensor wire from the harness, and get a straighter run to the O2 sensor. No idea on the TBI motors how much you might have extra based on how GM ran the wiring, but it might be enough to reach.

Just get yourself a pair of the proper weather pack connectors and make an extension "cord". DO NOT try to cut and splice the actual 02 wire as it's been said it won't work correctly afterwards. That wire is not normal copper wire like the rest of the wiring harness. I did this exact thing when i swapped for a heated 3 wire 02 sensor.

I used a heated o2 for mine and soldered the wire from the old o2 to extend it. It works fine for me and passes smog with no problem, just need to know how to solder I guess.
