I've been out of the four wheelin scene for awhile now and just wondering what a truck like this would go for... I'm going to buy it just wondering how far off I am. It runs good but the trans is slipping, it comes with a fresh rebuilt tranny.

How's the interior and rest of the drive train? How much rust? Power or manual windows? Looks manual by the rear window. How many miles on the engine? Still has a full time kit in it. What is this going to be? DD or trails?

What are they asking?

I would hit up http://www.cars.com/go/buyIndex.jsp?aff=national and check your area for comparable trucks and the asking prices.

350/350/? 44 front,12 bolt rear, tilt, cruise, a/c The front seats are coming apart at the seams, rear seat, and roll bar is in his garage, and has been for years all manual windows and locks, not sure of milage he did say what ever it is showing is orginal, he bought the truck new. a/c system was all new last summer, and he stayed with r-12, new tires march of 07, and it still has the auto hubs. he also has the orginal hood still, but it has the famous kink in it. I have not found any rust yet, I know there has got to be some on it I just have not found it. I'm going to paint the hood install the tranny and enjoy it for now

This thing is the perfect start to a marvelous 1 ton blazer project...

Oh, and welcome to the best chevy site around!

$25 buys you a front seat at the best E-lounge on the net, AND, the best Chevrolet 4x4 info anywhere!

boondock,
it might get upgraded later but right now it will be a daily driver. My last 4x4 was a really nice truck and I trashed it, and regretted it. So for now it will be a nice curb crawler. besides I have 5 other projects so funds are limited
Ancient4X4,
it is a 77 with 350 motor and transmission did not pay much attention to transfer case. dana 44 front and 12 bolt rear

I may be wrong - Can't tell in the picture - but it does not appear to have "auto hubs". The 78 should have the 203 transfer case and a full time 4WD setup. It's really unusual to put auto hubs in if it was converted to a PT 4x4 setup.

I was so impressed with the body I did not even think about it being full time....but for 600.00 bucks I'm still not disappointed. I looked at it and drove around the block then paid the man. Going to try and go pick it up tonight.

Yep.

He said its a 77,so it does have auto hubs and a 203.

There is no auto or hubs. They are drive gears so the front shaft spins all of the time. If the 203 does not have a part time kit if he pulls those the truck will go nowhere.

Auto hubs will disengage and allow the front tires to be seperate from the front axle shafts when in 2wd. The slugs lock the axles to the tires all of the time.

My 1977 K5 Bonanza with NP203 had the Blazer wheels installed on it from the Blazer sitting next to it at the dealership when my dad bought it new in 1977, his wheels look exactly the same as mine.

Btw: Those beauty rings are not original, they are the newer aluminum ones. Some asshole stole the original metal rally wheel style beauty rings back around 1989 or so. They were trying to get the rest off as well, but somebody must have scared them off as there were some bolts laying on the ground.

The black body striping on his Blazer threw me off as it was big in 1978 models, the yellow striping such as mine has was only available in 1977.

If the tranny is slipping, make sure it's not low. Mine will leak if I do not drive it for a long time, which I'm told is common.

The trim was yellow, but the orginal owner masked it off and painted it black at some point in time. It is still visable in some areas. I am going to pick it up tomorrow evening so I will find out for sure then. The tranny was low when he came back from Ok. City pulling a trailer, thats what cooked it. When I checked the fluid it was full but smelled burnt. The truck came with a new tranny still in the crate, so the tranny slipping did not bother me, thats why I jumped on it. I got the reciept for the new tranny when I got the title, he spent almost twice as much for the tranny than I paid for the truck. He got a new converter and a shift kit in it also.
