Lookie...new stuff

You know I just noticed, it sagged even with no top on it in the pic. I would deffinately be calling them up. I have seen Alcan springs in action and they flex extremely well but there is a drawback. The main leaf will bend easier then a normal spring. When Boss was on here a few years ago he ran Alcans. The first run with them he bent a rear pretty good.

txfiremank5 - why no bueno on the shackle angle?

85-m1028 - I have no idea what is so speacial about Deavers except that they have a lot of thin leaves and are strong as anything...

Wayne - You are so right, I will call Alcan this week. As for the BDS, their "no fine print" warranty had fine print and that just ticked me off. Also, the BDS weren't that much less expensie than the Alcans, which are located in Colorado.

going with deaver that over 1500 bones just for a full set of springs thats not including shocks ,bushings, steering components, add all that in and I could get a long arm kit for my jeep TJ !! those must be some awesome springs.!! I'm sure if you ask anyone running them they probably wouldn't run anything else!! plus my jeep axles will pop if you look at em funny so I guess you just can't win!!!

Yep your right about not running anything else, I have had my Deavers on for about 3 years now and love them. I went with Deaver because my blazer is a daily driver and I wanted a good ride on and off the street. I had BDS springs before and didnt really care for the ride and I bent them within a year. I figure I would rather spend a little more money once, than having to replace cheaper springs more often and end up spending the same down the road plus mine where only $1200 when I bought them. The cool thing is now that noahrob has Alcans we can do a heads up comparison because we go wheeling together.

Yeah, I wonder what's going on. I'll take some close measurements and go from there...Right no, it looks like 43" from ground to fender in the back and 45 in the front...I should have measured before I took it apart...live and learn...

Here is a picture of the shackle with weight on it and then two pictures, the first (top on) is with th eold setup) and the next one is post Alcan

So, the new Alcans are on and perfect! I have no idea how the math works out, but 4" springs with a 4" ORD shackle flip is level with a 6" set of front springs....Also, put 38" Ground Hawgs on with new wheels, trimmed a little on the fenders (destroyed my sawsall:doah: ) and installed the rear seat...Thanks for the tools camok5 and for the help Friday night tacomuncher...

Now all we have to do is find you a set of new seats for the front so you dont have to lean forward everytime to shift. Also I would be happy to take the caddy motor off your hands because I have wanted to do a engine rebuild for a while and I think it would make a fun project.

Yeah, I was going to rebuild the 500, but now that I have had some time to think, I am going to build another 383...Remember, the 500 only has 125,000 miles (nothgin for a cadillac) on that engine and was running strong when it came out...Let's put it in your tow rig?!?
