42kmiles, super clean, I know nothing about diesel. Heard some of the Ford motors not great, etc

Thoughts?, opinions?

Still keeping '84 K5, lol

6.0 leakers

egr cooler problems

not the correct needed # of head bolts . reason everyone studs them up over bolts

if you need one go atleast a 6.4

why diesel ? if you dont pull every day or 2-3 times a week i say go gas . friend asked me years ago gas or diesel . he pulles a enclosed tool job site trailer every month to 1.5 months to the next job . all the rest is just road miles . he has saved so much in maint and breakdowns over the diesel .

I have of so many problems with Ferd diesels and especially the 6.0 ones. I try not to be rude to people when they start complaining about how much to fix them. I believe that flat rate to change the alternator was 2 hours because the fan shroud blocked access to the tensioner to release the belt.

When looking for a 7.3 I read up on the 6.4 and it appears to be a turd also. Seems like they would wear out around the 150k mark and super expensive repairs also.

My neighbor's 6.0 oh no. 2 fuel injection control modules, $1.5k ea. 3 coolant bottles, 1 turbo $ 1.5k rebuilt, diy. 2 egr. Then it needed the egr cooler and head gaskets with arp head studs and oil cooler mods that repair alone was north of $6k.
2 years ago while at a bass fishing tournament in Las Vegas it was stolen from a down town hotel parking lot, recovered 2 weeks later. The truck wasn't damaged to badly, but all the tools and fishing gear in the shell were gone, 2 wheels and both batteries.

I actually like the drivability of the 6.0L and they have an excellent auto trans behind them but I have also been working on them since they came out so I am no stranger to any of the things that go wrong with them. That said I would not pay good money for one. I like the broke down ones that people can't figure out or are sick of throwing money at them. Do not buy one unless you have money to throw at it or lots of knowledge and experience to work on it yourself.

Ford sued Navistar over the astronomical number of warranty issues and costs related to the 6.0 and 6.4. That's why they went back in house to develop the 6.7. I have read a lot that says the 6.0 is good once you fix everything, but then you spent all that money to fix it.

My brother has a 05 with 12k into the engine, bought it with 86k on the odometer and now has a little over 91k. Has been a great truck and done nothing to it other then change the oil but thats expected with that much into the engine.

I'll be using it to tow my truck to Blazer Bash.
