found one about hour away. for how old it is there is very little rust. what is a fair price for a rolling body? wish i had pics of it. if you guys could give me a idea. this is the first one of these years i have evey found around here

thanks

Greg72 bought a 69 tub only, with fenders and hood for nearly 2500.

you've been around here for a long time, you must be looking for reasons to buy it!! :)

My pockets are small, so for me I'd pay less.

yeah, i WANT it. cant make up my mind just found a nice one ton for 1800. jump in turn key and go.. wish i could put the two together

What parts does that "rolling body" come with?

It makes a huge difference....especially when you start pricing the replacement parts.

Some "SWAGs" at pricing for items you need:

Hood: $300
Front Fenders: $150 ea
Repro Doors: $250 ea
OEM Tailgate: $300
Singlewall Top: : $1000
(or) Doublewall Top: $50
Original Seats: $200/set
Rear Seat holdowns: $100
Rear Seat: $100
Carpet Trim Strips: $LOTS
Repro Interior Bedside Panels: $500/set
...
...

and on, and on...

The more of these parts that are included in the sale, the higher the selling price will be. Even a "cheap" rolling chassis will cost a few thousand more if it's missing a lot of the critical parts you need. So don't be seduced by a low initial acquisition cost.

IMHO, a '69K5 specifically will command a higher price because of the significant rarity compared to the '70, '71 and '72 production numbers. There is also an implied responsibility to maintain it's authenticity as much as possible to preserve it's value.... if you want a truck to hack up, do it to a '70-'72K5.....or better yet, to a later model "dime-a-dozen" K5!

From your .sig it looks like you already have 3 project trucks AND a daily driver....do you really have the time and financial resources to take on another project?

OK i will be getting some pics soon. give you guys a better idea. i dont think i will be able to pull it now. but i am going to see how it goes.

????do you have a link for this????

Yea, since you already have some project trucks, this is probably not the one for you. Why not just give me the phone number of the guy selling it and I'll make your life easier by buying myself?

Nope....just my own experience. I bought a restorable set for a little less than that...

Carpet trim on the other hand......VERY hard to find and get people to sell. I think I've got most of it now, but that strip that goes between the front and rear seats where the floor drops down is a rare bird.

84CUCV, like Greg asked, what all does it include and how rusty is it 'really'?

Frame, axles, doors, hood and tail gate on a semi rusted K5 could be tempting but if it's just an empty tub and your not already into 1st gens, I'd pass.

single wall top vs double wall? why such a price difference? single wall more rare?

Doublewall tops are EASY to find....they bolt in from the underside of the bedrail which makes them a total pain if you actually have side panels and want to pull the top occasionally.....

Singlewall tops are more rare, and are easy to spot because of the two dome lights on the drivers side (one near the B-pillar area, one in the very back) and the fact that the top bolts to the bedrails from above....there are usually nice chrome trim strips there too, if the top is complete.

I've seen singlewall tops go for as little as $150 to as much as $1500... depends on your luck. I have two of them (one for each truck). It took me a while to locate mine.... but they are both in nice restorable shape (the rear hatches are almost always destroyed in the corners or missing parts)

he got 2500 for it complete. i cant pull that cash now anyway. i feel like i missed out. this is the only one of that year i have ever seen around here

Do you have dome lights inside the top? That's all you need to know.

Ha

ya that would be nice to be able to bolt the top down from the top of the rail like the newer generation blazers.. was a pain for me to bolt mine in from the bottom... and liek you siad if i ever do side panels. that will make it that much harder.. i guess i will keep a eye out around here too.. might get lucky.
