I am looking at a '95 6.5L diesel 2500 ext.cab long bed 4x4. 140K, Auto trans. Body and interior are in good shape. The engine has a blown head gasket. The guy wants $1500. Should I dare? I've never done a head gasket on a diesel before.

Sounds like a good deal, even if you end up dropping in a replacement engine. How does the truck look? Good shape? Head gasket wouldn't be all that hard, and not much different then a gas engine. If you get it, I would pick up a factory service manual for that truck. Very informative. I have a 97 6.5 truck, so PM me if you have any questions.

The truck looked real clean for it's age, but someone bought it 10 minutes before I arrived to look at it, so I will keep looking. Thanks for the info. I work for a GM dealer so manuals are an easy find. :D
