Looking at a potential new truck

Just ran across this truck on craigslist. The pictures look good and the price is very good, but is it a common problem as it is stated to have the water pump go? By the sounds of it I'm thinking it could be a frozen idler pulley for all he knows.

The water pump is common,is it leaking? We just replaced on on my father inlaws 05 lly. We had to get it done at a shop because we were to busy with feild work at the time,I am glad I`t wasn`t my truck because it`s a big PITA job and I usually work on my own s#it. Cost 700.00 to do the job,yes thats right,the dealer quoted around 1100.00. You could do it your self, there is a great DIY on it at the deiselplace.

I would go and read up on it alittle and then you can decide.

The manual shift tc in that truck is cool though.

And you are right, if the water pump isn`t leaking it could be a simple fix.

The water pump isn't hard you have to have remove the balancer to get it off but overall not a bad job can easily be done in a day for a first timer
