I have run across a 2 door tahoe for 3500 dollars. Looks to be in great shape. 169k on it and the whole top end of the motor has just been rebuilt. This truck is really cheap for a 2 door around here. Most go for double that. So that leads to my questions

the whole top end has been rebuilt, should i stay away? I know the guy selling it. He's a member on a local board. It sounds like a good truck but need some opinions please

just went to check it out. it ran real good, theres a few minor things wrong with it that i could tell. im going to take it to my mechanic on monday if he hasnt sold it yet. any thoughts from anybody? he says he replaced the top end because it was overheating but its good now

If he did the top end because it was overheating then there is a good chance it was because of the head gaskets were bad. The heads were cracked or even the intake gaskets were gone. I'd be worried about having gotten coolant into the oil...that'll wipe out the bearings quickly. Look at the oil closely for any milkyness (even though it has probably been changed since the work). Listen to it on startup for any knocks and watch the oil presure gauge. If it's low that could be a sign of a worn lower end.
