Headed to look at an 85' K5 blazer thats local to me today and just wanting some help as i'm unfamiliar with common problems on these. Its a 350/700r4 so i'm assuming a np208 and it has 3/4t axles so judging by the pics a 10bolt/14bolt combo. The price on it is right and he said it drives down the interstate just fine but we will see on the test drive. I've already got a dedicated rock crawler but i'm getting this so I have something to cruise around, drive to the lake, take hunting and light wheeling which is why this particular one has drawn me. I can know if the 3/4t swap was done decently by just looking but I don't know these trucks well.

If this one isn't right for me I have a friend in AL with one he is gonna sell me for a deal. 87' built 327,700r4, lifted, 33's

Where should I be looking for rust that is very hard to fix?

Any common frame damage like cracks around the steering box?

Anything else I should be looking for?

Favorite spot to find rust for me is in front of the rear wheels, around where the lower seat belt bolt goes. Stuff gets thrown up there and just sits.

The fuel fill neck metal piece that is inside the bed likes to rot out.

Also where the tailgate meets the bed, if the plate is still there with carpet over it, can hide a ton of rust back there.
