"Does that thing really have three alternators and no a/c?"

Probably has a giant stereo system. Look at the batteries too.

so guys are we saying that it is no good- It is for my son to drive to NH--thks

Photos look good, but as mentioned I'd check the frame around the steering box and check the body for rust. I'm sure you'll get more input, the post is fairly new.

117.000 isnt too bad if it's been maintained well. See if he's got maintenance records and receipts.

If you have any mechanic friends take one with when you look at it.

New York plates and one mention to check for rust? Given the location thats the first thing I'd look for. Look under the truck, at the floor near the rear footwell to b-pillar area. Kick panel area and the opening and the floor near the tailgate. The fenderwell openings are a common spot to be rusty and repaired too. On the surface it looks decent, but unless it's been garaged every winter it was up there, I don't think they could have avoided the salt.

3 alternators? Sounds like a comp stereo rig for sure. Bet it has or did have a giant system in it. All the more reason to assume they just did the cosmetics to look nice but skipped on the hard stuff that nobody sees.

Checking out his video, I see good and bad. Drive shaft is pointed towards the t-case so may imply he has a CV drive shaft (4" lift). But the rear lift has the spring, maybe zero rate (or shim), plus a block, too.

Rear interior looks like a ton of speakers, mainly large diameter. Kinda looks like a big bass machine. Alpine deck.

He pans away from dash pretty quickly so hard to tell if dash is cracked.

Underside of truck has been completely undercoated. I can see some bubbling under that spray which makes me think he just undercoated on top of rust....hard to tell though from my phone.

You could check Carfax and see if the mileage was documented well. Sometimes you can see how many times the odometer has rolled over. In my case, I saw mine rolled over 3 times, hence I have a 300k mile truck (89' does not have the extra 100k digit). For $10k, I'd expect a lot in the condition.

I want to know where the owner got the push bar and winch mount. Exactly what I want to do. Same goes for the nerf bars, although I don’t want to bolt on to the rockers but can’t tell by the pics. Also like the seats.

As for what to check. Rrrust. Rockers, rear of front seat mounts from under as that cracks and rusts. Tail pan, tail gate, inside rear cargo on gas spout side behind wheel well. For that kind of money, those areas should all be solid.
