for weekend duty, you could get away with most brands.... the Craftsman and Dewalt look to be on par with each other.. I've used both.. the newer Craftsman cordless stuff is pretty good... tho I think Dewalt may have slipped in quality in recent years, I generally like most of their stuff...

I'd be curious to try out the Milwaukee one... can't beat their corded tools! :grind::hack:

but, for as much as it's a love/hate relationship, nothing touches Snappy's cordless impacts.... mine is 10 yrs old, original model 18 volt, original gun, been douched in skanky bilge water a million times, and still tears sh*t up.....

the new batteries seem to be outstanding, whereas the old style sucked....

I'd stay away from the new Dewalt battery stuff, I've had lot's of trouble with them at work. Milwaukee's cordless impact is really good for the price.

i have the dewalt at home and if you manage the batteries they will last reasonably. the impact itself is great, excellent for lugnuts. kinda hard breaking ubolts loose. easy cheesy for spring bolts and assembling 205s.

the snap on i have for work is awesome! batteries last a good while and they dont go down steadily, just up and die at the end. strong enough for super duty lugnuts, it does nearly everything i need.

the only complaint is that its a little heavy after using it all day.

I got to agree with the snappy impact.
mine is 10 yrs or so old, the old 14.4Volt series.

that thing just doesn't stop! kinda spendy, but for the time it's lasted and the abuse it's seen it was well worth it.

I used and abused a small headed 1/2 Dewalt for 4 years. My only complaint was that the batteries started to literally fall off.

I've got the DW059, good solid impact but the batteries do tend to get weak if you don't manage them well. They were available on Ebay for a decent price . . . .

If you plan on buying one new ,you might want to consider RIDGID tools. I've been told by the guy at Home Depot they have a lifetime warranty on the motors and......the batteries too if you fill out the warranty card and mail it.

I used to buy DeWalt, Now I am a big fan of the new Makita line. Their tools are really a good step above the quality and features of DeWalt.

makita definitely has made a nice comeback in the last year or 2.. my bud is happy with his new stuff...

Gotta say the milwaukee stuff kicks ass, but I would probably save a little and go makita. Just definitely get lithium ion batteries.

Buddy has a ryobi and digs it, as well as my old shop teacher. Ive always liked ryobi tools, just my 2 cents. Ive been meaning to buy one for about 3 years now :D
