Like title states looking for a good set of drill bits for steel. Anyone got any recommendations?

How good a variety do you need on the sizes?
The Ridgid brand from Home Depot will drill stainless. The Milwaukee ones poop themselves on stainless

I got a set of hitachi ones and have abused them quite badly at times and they're still cutting. Just drilled a 1/2 in hole into some 1.25" hardened chrome-moly threaded rod.

I've had good luck with the dewalts that have the pilot tip.

I think your better off getting a sharpener and just use a descent bits. In the long run your be money ahead.

I've had decent luck with the complete cobalt index from hf. Just know with metal you have to slow down your cutting speed.

Been using "Drillhog" cobalts from Amazon. Coupla different set sizes, obviously hafta be used slow and ideally in a press, but USA made and lifetime warranty.

Looked at the Drill hogs and knkut since had a set before and they work good just don't loan them out!

Drill press soon I hope got room in garage after about 2 more nights oh work but it's looking best it has in years.

MAKE SURE you get Cobalt Split point drills.. DO NOT waste money on HSS drill bits. Split points are the only way to go. Try drilling a hole in stainless with a standard web drill bit. All you're going to do is work harden the point you need to drill the hole at. I must have explained this a dozen times throughout the years.

I slightly disagree. If your just drilling mild steel a properly lubed and cooled quality HSS works great.
In stainless they work well but do tend to get duller quicker.
