im thinking about getting a trailer to tow my K5. what should i look for? how long do i need? what the price range for a new one? i need it to be a pintle hitch as well. any tips?

I am looking right now. 18' plus dovetail seems to be a good size but you can probably put a K5 on a 16'. I am only looking at 10,000#+ GVWR trailers, 7,000 lbs is not enough by the time you subtract the empty weight of the trailer.

10k at least. Brakes on both axles. AT least 18', better to be 20' IMO. If you get a pintle, make sure its adjustable on the trailer. Look for good quality lighting and wiring. I prefer a wood deck, but steel is fine too.

Looking around ~$2500ish.

You're saying that minimum for a K5 is 18 + dovetail or you're saying a 16' plus the 2' dovetail = 18' is enough?

what is a dovetail exactly? when you say it has to be an adustable pintle hitch, do you mean up and down? why is that important?
i think i'll need at least a 10k trailer, causs we'll probly be using it for work too. we need something we can put a bobcat on. would 10k be enough for that? i'm not sure what they weigh. what about ramps, do they usually come with a trailer?

Ramps usually come with.

Up and down is important for a pintle to help it sit level behind your rig.

I would think 10k would be enough for a bobcat but most equipment trailers start at 12k.

A dovetail is a little downward angled section that allows loading of smaller/lower vehicles. I am considering trailers without dovetails but if you're going to haul cars, a dovetail trailer is probably ideal.

IMO I like a 20' overall trailer. I've seen people get away with a 16' overall trailer, which IMO is the bare minimum. However, the weight is not as well distributed on a shorter trailer, putting more tongue weight than needed on the tow vehicle.

For reference, all my trailers are 18' plus 2' dovetail.

Well, too much tongue weight has rarely been a problem in my experience...or shall I say that more often, not enough tongue weight has made for some scary pulling experiences.

I took your advice though and got a 20 footer, 18 + 2 dovetail.
