Looking for a port and polish kit

I have never bought a kit, I buy my bits seperately as I need them. Are you porting aluminum or iron? That jegs kit looks like it would remove material very slowly. I use carbide bits to start with, I just be very careful and gentle.

I like the carbide bits with the rounded tips, one short and one with a long reach. I also have the different types for ferrous and non ferrous metals.

will be porting aluminum and iron.. never thought of a carbide bit.. do you get them online? if so where? thanks

They look like this...

I buy them at swap meets from tool reps or locally, but I am sure you could order them. They also make them with a 6" shank for reaching down in, but I don't like to use those for the mouth of the port because do don't have as much control. This type will plug up with aluminum, you will want the non-ferrous version for shaping aluminum. They have much larger flutes that don't plug up.

You'll like them, just don't use the aluminum type on any steel, I was told it will ruin them. I have used the steel type on aluminum and it works, its just a lot slower and plugs up all the time. Also, wear a hat and realyl good safety glasses or a full face shield, those little chips will get everywhere.

i used a dremel tool on mine to clean them up and get them to port match better.could only get so far into the runners though.
