I have been looking for Extra deep 1/2" drive sockets in 15/16". I have found a few so far. Snap-on has some for $50 each. Sunex has a set of 8 (1/2 thru 1") for $100. Then I found these 9" inch deep odd balls for about $45 each. Does anyone know of any others, impact perferred?

Thanks

holy crap... $50 each? I don't have $50 in sockets... total... and I have like 3-4 sets. lol!! Just out of curiousity, what do you need to turn that will only accept a super deep socket?

Most likely u-bolts. :wink1:

I have a Snap On extra deep 15/16" and it's the shat! They're expensive but worth it.

use u-bolts that are the right length? Custom u-bolts are cheaper than one of those sockets...

Most lift kits come with u-bolts that are too long because the companies use stuff that is generically long enough to fit more than one kit (ie; different size blocks). If you do a lot of kit installs (side work, whatever) a socket like that is pretty convenient.

I baught one thats 5" long from Mac Fulbrights here in spartanburg. IIRC I paid $20.

Let me see if I can find a reciept:D

My U-bolts started the quest, but I handled them awhile ago. This is to save time in the future. Heck, I just like tools...

I had u bolts made, but got them a bit too long, and just ground about an inch off of them so that the socket would have bite....

It would have to be a BIG lift to fit a 9" socket and impact on the u bolts.. but I would like to have some extra deep sockets, I'm sure they would come in handy sooner or later. I'm way too cheap for something like that though...

The lenght of the current U-bolts really is not the issue. I handled them with a 15/16" box wrench. I like having the right tool for the job.

sometimes the right tool for the job is a cut off wheel and a hammer...:D
