Here was my alternative to not finding a pillar pod. This is from a Mustang GT. I jus had to file the bottom some to get it flat. But it fit really well. I painted it Blue to match the interior, it paints really nice and easy.

A little off topic but i want close up pics of your dash set-up. I'm wanting to install Auto meter guages aswell someday soon. How did you mount them?

I used a generic 3-pod one from ebay. It was really cheap. The angle is a little higher than ideal, but I can still read the gauges no problem.

Did you get my PM?

haha...sorry, just saw this...yeah i love the autometers. but they are pricey. they were in the truck when i bought it, but we did the same thing to my dads truck. wasn't too bad, a little triming and alot of patients for the wiring(not my favorite task) but it went smooth. just PM me with any questions and ill help you out man.

I had this idea... Take one of the stock-style interior trims pieces, shown in LMC's catalog:

http://lmctruck.com/icatalog/bzc/0039.asp

It's item #4.

Anyway, cut out a section of the factory trim and plastic-weld in a generic ABS pod piece, trimming as necessary to fit best. Smooth the "welds" down and then paint the whole thing to match your interior.

Another idea is to use the single gauge pods that swivel. Maybe something like this: http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=86

Attach them to the factory trim piece as needed and then glue them in place so they don't swivel anymore. Or you might be able to cut the "foot" off and attach the pod directly to the trim with a couple of screws.

You might be able to get 4 gauges on the pillar.

Something else to think about would be getting rings to mount the gauges in, then glassing them to the pillar. I'd get a spare pillar to practice on though. It'd be like building a tiny sub box.

I took out my sunvisors and fabbed a piece out of round stock and 22 ga sheet metal. I used a few different sizes of exhaust pipe to get the angle on the gauges. I think it works well, but I wouldnt put anything up there that you wwould always look at, mainly a speedo. I have pics in my sig under phase 2...
