I just got a '62 GMC V6 big block from my brother.
It was pulled from a truck, don't know if it ran at the time, but its been sitting for years. Anyway, it's complete from oil bath air cleanter to bell housing and clutch, alternator, etc.

Cast in the back driver side of the block are "2367293"
Stamped in the front passenger side are "305A47350"

Any info on exactly what this is and what it may be worth?

thanks

Im not sure if were talkin the same blocks etc but I had a 63/64?? GMC 1/2 ton PU,305 V6,4 spd with factory posi. What a beast, the thing went anywhere and did 20MPG with 4.10`s.

I had a '64 GMC 3/4 with the 305 V6. Motor siezed up a couple of time while plowing with it. Tow it backwards, pop it into reverse, would free up. Push it forward and bump start it. Didn't knock or anything...it'd just seieze for the hell of it. Always got it running again though.

a buddy up here has a bigblock V6 out of a 5 ton 1960-something. he repowered it with a cummins. he couldn't sell the engine here. running even. its a 472 cid V6. big bastard of a thing.

There is a 12 cylinder version that is well over 700 cid too. Basically two V6's joined. There used to be a guy around running one in an AD (Advanced Design...late 40's) era tow truck. It was huge, not fast, but cool as hell!
