Hey all! Thanks for your feedback= it's been great. A lot to think about for sure. I think I am getting close on a few- will post a few later after I buy so you can follow the build-out. Thanks for the suspension info too!

What's your thoughts on the 6.2 deisel K5?

Good mileage. Main them with them get a good glowplug system is needed for easy winter starting. You can wire up a manual control and swap to better glow plugs to help.

You can also turn up the injector pump on the 6.2s pretty easily for a little more power. I turned the one on my C10 up a 1/8th turn it downshifts from overdrive MUCH less and as a result I actually get better mileage.

Do the Diesel models have the same running gear/axles/trannies? Any gotchas?

same drivetrain yes, aftermarket parts...wise the Banks Turbo upgrade comes to mind but its spendy. any shop should be able to turn your pump up.

I believe my buddy here in town went with a rebuilt 6.2 w/ a bBanks turbo from Boyce Equipment out of Utah. I don't know if this is correct or not, as my memory can be shaky at times, but that seems to me what I remember. Anyway, it was spendy, but that thing is anything but a dog.
