Spent most of yesterday reading and trying to find some pics of a factory dual battery setup in a '87 or older truck or suburban (non specific). I chose 87 or older as dual batteries seemed more popular then.

I have a 1991 1500 Suburban and I have two raised molded bosses on top of my fan shroud. I suspect they are there for a reason.

Ignore the yellow loom wiring, that's temporary until i can figure this out. I am wondering if the cable went over the shroud loomed and mounted via those bosses to keep them secure.

Thoughts?

Thouhts?

I'm wondering the same thing. I installed my second battery on Thursday, and had the same question.

check out a civilian model 6.2l diesel...they have a 2 batt setup

I'll get some pics of mine in a bit, I just finished sweating my behind off fixing my a/c....

Those spots your arrows pointed to are for the A/C , goes over to the condenser by the radiator.

Very doubtful they ran battery cables up there from the factory but its not a bad spot for what you have going on.

When I ran my dual battery setup, I ran from the starter, UNDER the fan shroud along the frame cross member and up to the battery on driver side. I ran the negative side to the bolt that goes to my P/S pump (the adjuster nut down low right beside drivers frame)

o.k., here's the deal: the second battery (-) is grounded, the (+) connects to the primary battery.

The Primary battery is hooked up normally...this setup does not use an isolator...

primary battery, hooked up normally other than the second positive cable (It's at 7:00 position)

My AC is routed differently and its stock. I am thinking those bosses are either for the dual battery setup or for another model for the A/C line. Either way cables are going there.

Thanks guys!
