I’m trying to get my truck up in the air, I will be running 4” Tuff Country springs up front with 6” ORD shackles, and a DIY4X Shackle flip with 6” shackles out back, but I also intend to install zero rate ez inches on all 4 corners some time later, so I’m looking for a shock that will work for 4” and 5” of lift. The only thing I don’t know is if my lift height will be greatly effected by the longer shackle lengths? If anyone could shed some light on that subject for me? I have the springs and the flip brackets and the shackles and steering components, the only thing I need now is shocks and tires, I plan to pick up the tires the week of the install, shocks are first.

Any insight y’all wouldn’t mind sharing is much appreciated!!

Oh, btw this is for my 91 V2500 Suburban, and I am looking to get the most articulation I can get out of it. Thanks fellas!

Check out my thread if you'd like. https://ck5.com/forums/threads/1991-gmc-v3500-project.341681/page-2#post-4131246

On my '91 v3500 I did tuff country 4" HDs up front with 6" ORD shackle bars and the Bilstein 33-230382 fit fine up front. I thought about doing an easy inch to level the front more as I have a unique/custom setup but my dumbass cut my studs too short. In the rear I did the 4" easy rides and the 33-185606 fit fine there too.

EDIT: I have a 2005 2500HD rearend under my truck so the rears may not be exact but I welded on the shock mounts and near factory locations. Definitely measure, I would recommend getting the lift on and settled out the way you want it then measure. I didn't do that the first go around and trusted the internet for the right part numbers which were wrong. It was a fun drive home from the shop though lol

I used these on my 4" k30. Compare the measurements and see just how they will work for you and your particular configuration.

I did stock 2000 f350 SD shocks. Fit good on 4"-6" lift. If you plan to do a lot of super flexing you may want to adjust the mounts a little for optimum travel. But normal driving and mild flexing stock mounts work.

Factory shocks for that application were a good fit huh? Awesome! I plan to flex but nothing insane, by the point I’ll get Ford shock towers and take it to 4 wheel parts to have them measure for the correct shock

Thank you! Great info!

I bought mono tube KYBs for like $35 a corner. And they seem to work great.
This is 6" lift.

Here's the front. They are all stock mounts.

And the rear in stock mounts kind of limited travel. It was limiting down travel to a point.
I ended up inboarding just because I was in there for a tank swap. Way more travel available afterward.

Hey did you use two front and two rear stock SD shocks? Or 4 front or 4 rear? Gonna order from rock auto just to get my truck drivable, probably gonna end up upgrading the rears sooner than later but for now I can drive it and hit a small trail.

I got them just as they're listed for the truck. Fronts for front, rears for rear

I bought Monomax KYB’s and they didn’t ship with sleeves, and what’s more, the rear shock bolt for my suburban is way bigger than the size the stock rear super duty shock is set up for. Can you advise?

I drilled put the sleeve carefully in my drill press.
Some people have pushed the bushing out and drilled for a bigger bolt I believe.
Been a while. I'd have to look back in my thread.
