I seem to remember Chris (sponsoredbydad) posted some images of his M&Ms colored setup a while back but I haven't found them yet.... :dunno:

I'm sure you guys have plenty of detailed photos from your RaceDesert sites. I'm just trying to speed up the research process for myself a little. Upper mounts are going to be necessary on my build in a hurry, and I'm trying to come up with something clever to incorporate with my perimeter-style engine cage.

If necessary, I'll do a set of down bars to the tops of the framerails on either side of the engine (I see that setup a lot).

Currently I think I can build some strong triangles in the firewall area with a crossbar that runs along the firewall from side-to-side, and a few well placed down bars to lock everything in place.

Also, I see a lot of guys running one set of shock bolts front-to-back, and the other set mounted side-to-side. Presumably this is to guarantee that the shock never binds up and always has the ability to pivot in any direction? :dunno: at this point my lowers are mounted "front-to-back" so the uppers should go side to side (which should be pretty simple to accommodate).

Looking for a few quick pics or links to threads that can move the "Might As Well" thread along.... :waytogo:

Here is the one I think that you are looking for.

Not much help on this, but IIRC it was Dave's thread were he mounted the bolts along the axle and the general consensus was to have them front to back for the binding issue. I think that he changes them around after that.

On the axle, front to back. On top it can go either way. The top does not see nearly the movement the bottom does. As you articulated the front suspension, did you notice how much movement the axle had front to back?

The bolts should run perpendicular to the direction the axle moves the most. Front to back or side to side.

Found one.

Front-to-back movement is pretty small. My lower links are ~42" long which helps a lot to minimize axle position changes during cycling.

I'll have to break out my PencilCAD application again and see what sort of axle shift is actually happening, but I think you're right... The misalignment spacers can probably handle all of it themselves without concern for which way the upper bolt is facing.
