Does anyone know who produces and after market front bumper for 69-72 Blazer or Jimmys designed to hold a winch. I see plenty for later model K5s and newer trucks, but I cant find any for the 69-72 years. Do you think im better off just building my own. Im quite capable with MIG or TIG and i know it would save me a bunch of cash that I could actually spend on a winch, but I just want to know my options. Thanks

If you built your own....it wouldn't have to look like crap. :D

Most of the winch bumpers I've seen look like they belong in front of a locomotive.....just TOO massive and square and ugly. If you designed one yourself, you might even be able to come up with a hidden winch design and incorporate some of the styling elements of a factory bumper so that the truck still "looked" like a 1st Gen when you were done....

Just my two cents, and I'm sure everyone is tired of hearing my views on how 1st Gens should look like 1st Gens even when built for offroading.

Or don't build one and just cut a hole in your bumper.
Guess it depends on the look your going for.

Still does anyone know of the manufacturer that makes them. And yes Greg72, I do agree with you that they look like they belong in front of a locomotive, but its different strokes for different folks. I just wanted to see who made them and what possible options I have. A website perhaps? Thanks

I do belive they have changed the look over the years.....I don't know of any others. But really anyone that has steel and fab skils can make one. Look at some of the 73+ bumpers to get different ideas too.

Actually I now have a 1972 GMC Jimmy that I have built up after ditching my '83 K5 because of weak driveline issues (hairline fracture in NP208 case, 10 bolt axel sheared off). I live in the willow glen area off of Lincoln Ave if you know where that is. Thanks for the heads up on Blazerfest, I hope the Jimmy is allowed.
