lookin for a spare np241 for my 1989 suburban project. what years and models will work with the 89? i figured if i can find a spare cheap and rebuild it with a sye, then keep mine as a spare just in case.

89 was the only year with the correct side front output and the cable driven speedo. That said perhaps the 90-91 with the sensor can be converted...?:dunno:

Yup, as far as I know '89 was the only year for the mech speedo 241. Not sure if conversion is possible/practical. If you are going to SYE it, it may not matter. They may be able to get you the right parts to make a 90-91 have a mech speedo with the SYE.

Might be just as easy to go electronic speedometer and ditch the cable as it is to convert a '90-91 to mech, especially if the donor is a '90-91.

I certainly wouldn't let that be my limiting factor to a donor. (but I'm partial to the electric setups)

This is assuming stock speedometers.
