I'm looking to replace the cam and intake in my blazer, but I don't know much about all the specs for cams. Lift and duration (and then adv and .050...). Pretty much I could use a general lesson on cam selection, what everything means, and what I should be looking for. I'm looking for a good street performance cam- I know how to select rpm range, but that's about it.

For the intake, I'm pretty much sold on Edelbrock's Performer TBI, but I'm open to suggestions on that.

I'm also not sure about other parts I may need- I know I need lifters, but when do I need new valve springs, or other stuff?

Thanks for any help you can offer... I have a lot to learn...

I'm in the military and the truck is registered in el paso county, co, who does not do emissions tests. And whenever that runs out, I'm a resident of Florida, which doesn't do emissions tests. Right now I run with no EGR and no cats, and unless laws change, no one who cares will ever know.
