1/2 ton status
its either an 84 or 85-dash says custom deluxe(i'm supposed to stop by and get the title tomorrow/today from his mom)it has 74k+some change original miles!(pretty dang sure) and this is the cleanest truck I've ever seen, condition wise, ever since looking at them when they where new on the showroom,(other than a show truck) not a spot of rust on it anywhere to be seen with your nekkid eye or to find with a magnet, yep i even walked around it checking it w/my telescoping magnet looking for bondo, maybe some between the saddle tank and its skid plate but you can tell this truck was well taken care of! he even let me pull the sill plates up and look under the rubber mat and in the weatherstripping channel...NO RUST! its been garaged all its life up until last January. they(kid and his mom) said it was used to tow a 14 or 16 ft aluminum fishing boat, and he never got it out in the winter, they said he had an old 4x4 dodge he drove if the weather was bad during the summer & all all winter, Chevy stayed inside garage every winter of its life, and hasn't been out of the shop in about 4 yrs b/c the g-pa got where he couldn't drive anymore!
no slammin its doors, you can gently push them closed and they will fully latch and body lines all line up, no slop in the hinges..it still has the original plastic piece on the stricker bolt,(i assume) no seat or pedal wear, original MSRP sticker is in the glove box, windows can be rolled down with your pinky and they're not electric!! it has 6 lug axles(10b F&R) it was a standard trans truck so everything i stripped off the manual trans 84 k30 should bolt right in w/o much fuss!, the guy supposedly got it back in January when his g-pa died. he drove it a month or so, then pulled the engine/trans/transfer and put that stuff into a Toyota.
i heard of it thru a friend of a friend and pressed him for its location Tuesday b/c, it sounded like what i was looking for, another manual trans truck so my build will go just that much smoother!(he didn't want to tell b/c he wanted to buy it) but he gives up its location, so i go look at it, and i cant believe my eyes, like i said its the cleanest k10 I've seen in a long long long time, it was hard not to just start drooling and blabbering on & on about it.....kinda like now,.. that its sitting in my yard!..but i didn't want to let on how prestine of a truck he was getting rid of, to him. i pointed out the rock specks on the leading edge of the hood that i could see thru the O.D. green/next paragraph talks about the paint, but, i mentioned he should have sanded those out b4 paint and i litterally looked pretty closely to try find any kind of bad stuff to point out, but quit, so, he wouldn't change his mind and realize how well preserved it is or some sentimental value kick in, so i quit looking and started talking buying/selling
"those trucks are a dime a dozen, you see them everywhere lifted up or low rider, not many people have a Toyota like this tho, i like to be different"..(that's a direct quote from him!) and the grandson has even painted the Chevy od green, said he did it as soon as he got it and put a set of American racing wheels he got from a friend on it, that resemble the stock chevy aluminum wheel(eagle classics?)and painted them and the shiny diamond plate toolbox and F&R bumpers flat black! looks pretty good. he even did the doorjambs and inside the cab.(it was red, i could see when i opened the ashtray(no ashes or butts in it by the way) it has a brush guard type front bumper and the warn winch(ole timey ?8221?)
its my new project..i guess the only k5 i will have is the 69, which is gettin set over on a k10 frame w/coils on all 4 corners and bagged! Soooo, I'm putting these axles under my k5 and swinging my 3/4 tons & springs & the sm465/np205 outta the k30 under the k-10 until my d60/14bff are ready to go in..mainly i need the steering correction stuff for the d60 as i have a 12'' lift. i have a dropped pitman and a block and raised arm on the 3/4 ton so i can use them now, i think the draglink arm would be all that i have now that would swap on to the d60 steering setup!
oh yea, i gave $500/five hundreds(actually 25 $20's
) for this truck, good thing i went by there today, b/c after i paid him i went to a friends shop wanting to borrow a trailer, but he wanted to see this truck i was telling him about b/c he couldn't believe it, so we took his roll back car hauler...once we got there he checked it out to try and find any problems to rub my nose in, he popped the hood, which i didn't look under b/c i knew it had no engine & it was just as nice under there,..not all oily or dirty, and i noticed its set up for dual batteries & the trays have some surface rust but are still all there and sturdy! i am so stoked! and i heard the boy on the phone telling someone he had just sold it and got in an argument and hung up on whoever it was...turns out ..it was someone coming by today Friday after work after they got paid today to buy it, seems they got mad i bought the truck/he sold it.....man I'm glad i got my buddies friend to tell me where it was or neither of us would have had it...i really excited,my buddy w/rollback offered me $1500 for it saying i could get my k5 as clean w/the extra $1000..aaaaahh NO, i'm stoked people! can u tell! i'll get some pics up as soon as its light enuff outside to see it well!
