So some of the noise thats coming from my front end when I hit bumps is the factory slip yoke on the front driveshaft. When I got under there, I grabbed it right where the driveshaft enters the yoke, and was able to move it around and duplicate the sound that I was hearing...

Is there any solution to fixing this other than buying a new or used one? I know that it has a grease fitting on it, but I think that would be a moot point at this point right?

thanks for the quick reply, im just worried the play wont get any better...but its worth a shot...

The play will not get better but it will eliminate the clunck.
Mine doesn't move too much but it does, so i grease often and it's been fine.

i guess my next question is, what is exactly inside the slip yoke that would make it have so much play? i know its splined, so that means they are worn out? or is there some hidden factor i am missing?

There is a coating that is like rubber but not quite rubber, it is supposed to cushion the shock of loading and unloading.
If the splines are not greased often that coating wears out and you get the slopiness and noise.
