looking around under the hood. I see two wires coming off negative on batter... one is attached, the other is loose... any idea where this second wire should mount to? Here’s a pic showing both wires, one loose

Usually there is one wire going to the body or radiator support. You should also find ones to connect the engine to the frame and to the body.
On mine there is a bolt on the core support to the left (when standing facing front of vehicle) of the radiator cap, back side, up top. I believe the headlight harness also grounds there.
Ok, yes I did the see headlight ground near radiator. Looks like the wire is loose and broke off the terminal. Will check if that's where it came broke off from and reattach. thanks.
