Need some advice
I have a 89 blazer and I've replaced the ball joints and put on a new steering box. It is real easy steer but it follows any ridge or grove in the road. It also pulls with the torque of the engine and when shifting. Could thefix be as easy as replacing the steering stabilizer.

Thanks Brett

no.

check your tierod ends, also check your toe. If you have no toe in or toe out your tires will wander all over the road.

It also helps to have a buddy turn the wheel and look for places were the steering flexes.

look at the rag joint that connects the steering shaft to the box. if those are worn or loose you will be all over the place.

You adjust the toe-in by screwing the tie rod end in or out slightly. There is a recommended amount of toe-in or out but I don't know it off the top of my head. There are plenty of people here who do, and one of them will jump in.

Basically you measure from the centers of the front tires on the back side and on the front side and there should be a certain difference.

The rag joint is old I didnt replace it. But I did have a hell of a time getting the steering shaft the rag and the box back together. Any ideas on an easy way to put a new rag joint on with out taking the box off or even loosening it.

Thanks fordum on the tierod help

the rag joint can be purchased in the help section of an auto zone or orielys. as far as replacing it, i believe it just involves a couple of bolts and nuts to take off the rag joint assembly from the box.

Ferk that. Don't replace the rag joint. Ditch the whole thing for a steering shaft out of a XJ Cherokee. Do a search on here. Tons of us have done it and love it.
