I got a replacement set of KYB complete struts for my DD. The one from UPS was kicked around and one of the three mounting studs was crooked. I knocked it out and intend to put it back in straight, but I was wondering if Red ThreadLock would keep the studs from potentially spinning when I get them installed and tighten the nuts?

Thinking about putting it on the shoulder of the stud and then tightening it to pull it to seat.

Thoughts?

No. Because it takes nothing to break red thread locker loose. It is there to keep vibration from turning a nut or bolt. Can you put a tack weld on it?

Can you put a tack weld on it?

Unfortunately not right now. It is knurled and maybe that will be enough if I can "pull press" it in. It just got knock out during shipping.

I do not have a welder right now...haven't needed one in 9 years so I don't have one now. Now I wish I did.

By the way, none of the other studs are tack welded either.

If they just knocked it out, and it needs pressing to go back in, it should be good with just that.

That is interesting because I have read that Red will not break before the bolt does.

I use red all the time. Never had it break a bolt. If you use it on a steel bolt into aluminum, it might pull the threads out.

So I bought Blue for my Crankshaft harmonic balancer bolt. Is that enough?

Yep. Should be good to go with that. I have used the red on all types of hardware as long as everything is steel or stainless steel based. If you got down to small stuff, like under 1/4", it could be a problem. I use blue anything that small.

Well, I have Red and Blue...I dont know what the bolt and crankshaft are made of and I don't want the bolt to never come out, I might have to remove it sometime.
