On my 07 classic..

Head lights will stay on sometimes, messing with, even unplugging the headlight switch changes nothing.

If the dimmer switch is in the on position "all the way up" the engin wont turn off right away and will stumble. Also if it is turned on and the truck is off it will cycle the blade on the throttle body.

I am under factory warranty "32k"

but this truck likely will get some second glances or turned away with all the changes:doah:

Someone had suggested the electrical part of the ignition switch, any thoughts?

I also have no power at my transmission "adl" or what ever it is called, so I only have one gear. Also I have my diagnostic port is not working, even though it had power.

I am ready to loose my mind. One thing to note is unplugging the steering column harness does shut down the truck as well as the cycling of the throttle body. I am just unsure if the ignition switch part can cause this many issues.

Any ideas or leads would be helpful.

Sounds like the headlights are cross-feeding something they shouldn't.
Cardinal rule: If you do anything to a system or piece of equipment, and then it starts doing something wrong, either undo what you did to see if it fixes or go back and double check everything you did.
Not always the problem, but a good place to start looking.

Is this the same 07 you just swapped cabs on? You may have missed a ground or two.

G200 supplies ground to the diag plug. It is on the right side upper dash area near the a pillar. The upper dash has to be pulled to see it.

Can you expand on this a little? Dash is still exposed and apart right now.

edit, I assume this is a plug port or name under a fuse? All fuse's have been checked, tripple checked as have relays been pulled and swapped around.

Get a GOOD wiring diagram and test light and multimeter and look for all the grounds in the truck. More than likely you have a few loose, and when a circuit has no ground, but is say, on the same fuse as another circuit, it will use that circuit to go to ground. For example, your radio and headlights are on the same fuse, but the radio does not have a ground, every time you turn on the radio, it will send power through the headlights to find ground. So every time you turn on the radio, your headlights come on. I think something similar is happening on your truck.

I had a van in the school shop once that would not turn on for anything. Nothing I tried would work, and when I was ready to give up, my instructor told me to check the computer grounds. Sure enough, one was broken. Fixed it and it worked like new. It's amazing how a car that is going haywire is all due to a single circuit that backfeeds to the rest of the car.

I can almost guarantee your problem is a ground or two.

Thats on my mind as issues usually are grounds with wiring, bummer is I took the whole thing apart:doah:

I sure it will likely be something simple, or at least I hope so.

I did check the left front top of the dash and it does have the ground on it as shown in the pic, bummer.

edit x2

the pic or diagram i POSTED IS FOR THE UPPER LEFT, "damn caps"

Anyways, the one I have loose ad ook a pic of "appears to be this one?

Now tis throws on a light bulb because i do remember not hooking up my heater assembly and some associated wiring, being the dash is coming back out... tomorrow I shall hopefully win this fight!

btw scott ,

You checked the left side? What about the right?

right side looks to be the culprit..

When I swapped cabs I decided to leave the hvac/heater box from the 02 in place thinking the harness would be plug in play on it.. WRONG So being I have to have this all apart again for when i do the roll cage I thought no biggie..

Well G200 says otherwise:o

So.. tonight out comes the entire dash, then ill properly swap the hvac and heater assembly from the old cab to the new.

Ill repost back tomorrow, I had no idea it would affect the vehicle:doah:

Well you're bound to have some problems with a frame-off restoration project:wink1::doah:

BTW, it's not everyday you know someone who has done such a resto on an '07 truck!:haha:
