Cruising along on a freeway yesterday evening in my Burb, traffic was moderately heavy. Heard about 3 seconds of growling, then POP!

Luckily there was an exit coming right up...however cruising down a short exit and maneuvering to a parking lot with armstrong steering, oversized tires, and no power brakes is not fun (hydroboost). It is even less fun in rush hour.

There was a parts store about 3 miles away that had the idler in stock. Thank goodness Whipple uses the stock pulley in their design.

Lucky you! I lost mine about 4mi from the house, no water pump put a dead stop to my travels. :(

Luckily I had a nice spare serpentine setup, saved me the $120 the parts places want to replace the pulleys and the idler arm.

Did it come apart, or did you lose the pulley, bearing, bolt and all? I've seen the bearing seize up, and rather than the belt slipping, the bolt un-threads.

The bolt and inner bearing race were intact on the supercharger mounting plate. I found the pulley wheel down near the radiator support. Outer bearing race, bearing, etc were nowhere to be found.

Once I had the part, it took five minutes to replace it and put the belt back on.
